Monero community wallet funds drained in security breach

Monero’s community crowdfunding wallet recently fell victim to a security breach, resulting in the loss of its entire balance of 2,675.73 Monero, worth nearly $460,000. The attack on the privacy coin’s wallet occurred on Sept. 1 but was not revealed until Nov. 2 on GitHub. According to the company, the source of the breach remains unidentified and is still under investigation. Monero’s developer, Luigi, disclosed that a total of 2,675.73 XMR, valued at approximately $460,000, was stolen during the breach. He clarified that while the community crowdfunding system (CCS) wallet was emptied, the separate hot wallet for payments to contributors was unaffected, retaining a balance of around 244 XMR. Fireblocks discloses massive vulnerability affecting crypto wallets

Fireblocks said the vulnerabilities affecting Coinbase, Binance, and Zengo have since been fixed and has reached out to more than 12 others still at risk. Over 15 widely-used crypto wallet providers and projects have gaping vulnerabilities that could potentially see millions of crypto wallets drained, according to digital asset infrastructure firm Fireblocks. Fake Ethereum Denver website linked to notorious phishing wallet

Hackers continue to create fake Web3-enabled websites to fleece unsuspecting victims’ browser-based wallets, with ETHDenver being the latest victim. A fake website of the popular Ethereum Denver conference is the latest phishing target of a red-flagged smart contract that has stolen over $300,000 worth of Ether (ETH). The popular conference saw its website duplicated by hackers this week in order to trick users into connecting their MetaMask wallets. According to Blockfence, which identified the fraudulent website, the smart contract has accessed more than 2,800 wallets and stolen over $300,000 over the past six months. Another day, another scam. Bitcoin ‘millionaire’ wallets drop 80% in year of BTC price bear market

Twelve months after Bitcoin’s last all-time high, seven-figure BTC balances have taken a hit. Bitcoin (BTC) millionaires are becoming an increasingly rare breed as numbers fall 80% in a year.
